Dr. Lisa Ellis

Dr. Lisa Ellis D.C.

Dr. Lisa Ellis is committed to help guide every patient along his or her personal path to wellness.  Wellness, a word used all too often today without reference to its true meaning, is more than just the absence of disease or dysfunction.  Wellness is a state of optimal balance of the body, mind, spirit, and lifestyle.  Structural disturbance, toxins, and mental stress can interfere with human body’s ability to reach its goal of ultimate health and wellness.  Through chiropractic adjustments, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle modification, Dr. Ellis strives to remove underlying causes of disruption of the body’s natural balance and optimize the conditions for normal function.  Using this whole person approach, Dr. Ellis is able to help you to remain on the most direct pathway to good health.

To gain experience with patients and help pay for her undergraduate education, Dr. Ellis became an emergency medical technician.  The difficult hours and harsh conditions were worthwhile when considering the importance of helping people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.  Dr. Ellis graduated from Austin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in the spring of 2000 with the ultimate goal of attending medical or osteopathic school.  For three years, financial concerns and other difficulties prevented her from attended medical programs.  Dr. Ellis spent this time exploring all opportunities.

While working on an ambulance, Dr. Ellis came into direct contact with those suffering from chronic illness and disease.  She was devastated by the quality of life that was considered “normal” by many medical doctors.  After seven years of working within the traditional sickness-based medical system, Dr. Ellis was lost and disillusioned.  She couldn’t imagine a life spent handing out medications and drugs with little to no attempt to solve the underlying cause of the disease or dysfunction.  The last straw came with advice from a young doctor working in an emergency department: “I would never recommend medical school to anyone. The medical system does not work.”

Chiropractic, with its holistic approach to dysfunction, was a light in the dark.  Every word describing the philosophy and art of Chiropractic seemed to make perfect sense.

Dr. Ellis graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in January 2010.  Dr. Ellis has attended seminars for further training in nutrition, prenatal care, and pediatric care.  Dr. Ellis is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.  She is also a member of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce.
